Materials Suppliers Subgroup

 

Composites UK recently formed a material suppliers sub group so that both suppliers and users of resins and fibre have a forum where they can exchange ideas on the future trends of raw materials and be made aware of current and future UK & European legislation with which the Industry will have to comply to remain legal.

 

The subgroup will hold quarterly meetings. These will aim to cover all aspects of REACH, packaging and any environmental concerns which are or will be imposed on the Industry.

 

Membership of the subgroup is open to all Composites UK members. An additional £150 is payable per annum which enables the member company to attend meetings free of charge.

Attendance at sub-group meetings is open to all, but fees will apply to non-members.

The main H&S initiative for Composites UK in 2011 was SIMPL: Safety in Manufacturing Plastics. This is a pro-active H&S programme specific to the UK Plastics and Composites sectors which was formally launched in London 14th October with good representation from Composites UK. The objectives are to reduce accidents, ill-health and lost time in the sector. Member companies, particularly processing companies, are asked to formally pledge their support to the initiative. A copy of the pledge can be downloaded from the information section of the website.
