Composites UK has launched the programme for its 2020 Annual Conference, looking at the opportunities for industry growth and the barriers it faces.

The half day event, taking place at the National Composites Centre in Bristol on 22nd April will see a presentation from Composites UK’s new CEO, Dr. David Bailey, setting out his clear vision for the sector and the Association.

The National Composites Centre’s Chief Technology Officer, Enrique Garcia, will detail the developments of The Grand Challenge programme and the evolving demand in the composites sector.

Ken Smart, Executive Director of Business Strategy for McLaren Automotive will then showcase the work of the Composites Leadership Forum, for which he is Chairman, and give an update on its key targets.

These scene setting presentations will then give way to sector specific updates from Aerospace (speaker TBC), Automotive (Alan Banks, Ford), Construction (James Henderson, Atkins) and Rail Infrastructure (Jonathan Howard, Dura Composites).

Claire Whysall, Communications Manager at Composites UK said: “The Annual Conference is always well received as a clear and concise afternoon of presentations from key figures within the composites industry. It provides a forum for members and non-members to come together to discuss the industry’s future, plus any concerns they may have.

“Members can also stay on to attend the Annual General Meeting to receive an overview of what we’ve been working on and our strategy going in to 2021 and beyond.”

The event is followed in the evening by a Networking Charity Dinner in aid of YoungMinds at the Mercure Bristol North Grange Hotel, with the Aerospace Interiors Sector Showcase taking place the next day at Aerospace Bristol, within arm’s reach of the Concorde display.

Registration for all of the events mentioned here is open via the Composites UK website. All are welcome.
