At JEC World 2017, the Innovation Planets are display areas dedicated to composite innovation and production, where every company working in the field of composites may presents its latest innovations and showcase them through an artistic set design.
During the show the Carbon Fiber Design Contest will be in the Better Living Innovation Planet in Hall 5.
The Carbon Fiber Design Contest is an international competition, which is now in its fifth year, is themed 'planning in colour with the largest 3D polychromatic and multi-material printer'. Creativity has an immediate feedback with realistic colors and materials making obsolete the uncertainty of results.
In 2013, a group of professionals operating in the area of composite materials, has decided to organise an international competition dedicated to young creative to design objects made by carbon fibre.
This was the beginning of the Carbon Fiber Design Contest, designed to raise awareness of architects, designers and creative in the carbon fiber, using and improving the typical properties of the material: mechanical strength, light weight and moldability. The first edition had immediate international success with the participation of around 200 projects from all over Europe, 20,000 visitors on the web, thousands of contacts via Facebook and ended with the award ceremony during the International Salone del Mobile in Milan. Since then, the Carbon Fiber Design Contest has continued to evolve, touching different themes in the new technology at the service of creativity industry.
The jury for 2017 will be chaired by one of the world's leading experts in 3D printing, Professor Marinella Levi of the Politecnico di Milano.
