Following on from winning last year’s JEC Innovation Public Prize as finalists in the Aerospace Process category for the manufacture of a fully composite FST compliant 16g aero seat back, Cecence are once again among 33 finalists selected by a cutting-edge selection process and prestigious jury at the JEC World Innovation Awards 2020.
This year Cecence have been nominated in the Railway Vehicles & Infrastructure Category for their Composite Overhead Line Catenary System (winner of the Composites UK Innovation in Design Award at the end of 2019) and are one of only four UK companies who have made it through to the finals.
The innovative Light Rail System could save as much as £1m per 10km of track, is lighter and more cost effective to install, and delivers an improved aesthetic through decreased infrastructure clutter. The integrated solution incorporating cabling, support structures and connectors delivers reduced maintenance costs and has no requirement for a tensioning system. It also provides an opportunity for more creative design and styling, and for the use of bio composites.
The jury has one month to select a winner in each category and the innovations will be recognized at the awards ceremony in Paris in March this year.
Cecence will be exhibiting at JEC World Paris this year in the Mobility and Aero & Space Innovation Planets.
