March 2016 will see the Composites Innovation Cluster (CiC) host its own dedicated conference session at the JEC World Show in Paris.
The CiC is supported by the Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative (AMSCI).
‘Developing a Composites Supply Chain’ will look at four of the Cluster’s projects – BIOCOMP, DATACOMP, FAR-MFD and THERMOCOMP – beginning with an overview of the programme’s impact from Will Searle, Managing Director of Axillium Research, one of the Cluster’s lead organisations. Mr. Searle will also chair the session.
The first part of the conference session will see Clint Bainbridge of NetComposites present BIOCOMP, which is stimulating the UK supply chain for biocomposites and Donna Dykeman of Granta Design will deliver an update of DATACOMP, focussing on composite material characterisation for simulation driven engineering.
Part two showcases FAR-MFD when Lyndon Sanders from Far Composites will talk about their new demonstration manufacturing facility and Anthony Abbott of Technical Fibre Products will showcase the development of a thermoplastic composite supply chain in THERMOCOMP.
Claire Whysall from Composites UK, the dissemination partners for the programme said; “It is wonderful to be working with JEC on this opportunity to showcase the CiC as the programme enters its final few months. JEC World is seen as one of the highlights of the composites calendar and to be able to demonstrate the work of the partners on a world stage is critical in assisting them to commercialise their new technology and processes.”
The programme consists of 28 companies forming part of 14 projects which brings together academics, industry suppliers, and primes to support the delivery of a nationally connected network of materials specialists, manufacturing and process businesses, tooling and systems providers.
The CiC conference session comes in support of an increased presence at JEC World from the programme’s partners with the following companies taking a stand at the show: Composites UK; Formax (now part of Hexcel), Granta Design, National Composites Centre, NetComposites, Sigmatex and Technical Fibre Products.
The presentations take place on Wednesday 9th March between 2pm and 4:45pm in the conference area of Hall 5A. Pre-registration to this and other conference sessions is available via the JEC website.
