D.K. Holdings has been at the forefront of manufacturing and developing diamond tooling in the composite industry for over 60 years. During this time, the company says it has become trusted advisers to leading companies all over the world, and export to more than 50 countries. The ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 accredited company now employ over 80 personnel at its manufacturing facilities in Kent.
Continuous investment has enabled D.K. Holdings to manufacture its diamond tooling within four state of the art workshops, with a floor space totaling over 3,200 m2. Manufacturing diamond tooling from 0.5mm diameter up to 2 metres in diameter, from one-off bespoke specials to large quantities of standard, off the shelf products.
“We work very closely with all our customers. Helping them to achieve continuous improvements and efficiencies within their processes” explains John Emptage, sales and marketing manager at D.K. Holdings. “This is especially true within the wind turbine industry. We have worked alongside some of the largest manufactures in the world, enabling us to design and manufacture the exact tooling they require to drill, slot and trim composites during their manufacturing operations”. One recent example of this was the requirement to remove large volumes of material when repairing wind turbine blades. After discussions with the customer and operators, D.K. Holdings designed and manufactured a set of electroplated diamond tools. Results were outstanding, with a 50% reduction in labour time, and the added bonus of the tools being able to be returned for replating once worn. Making this a very cost-effective solution.
Another industry that has benefited from D.K. Holdings' expertise is the manufacture of large-diameter composite pipes. Again, through working with the pipe manufacturer’s, Diamond tools were designed and manufactured to trim, recess and calibrate pipes and pipe couplings, and are now supplied to companies worldwide.
The list is pretty endless of prestigious companies D.K. Holdings now work with. From Luxury superyacht manufacturers to world champion Formula One teams. From the latest passenger airline manufacturers to composite water pipe producers in the Middle East.
“I suppose the truth of the matter is” concludes Emptage” if you are profiling, trimming, drilling, or cutting composite material, you probably will be, and definitely should be using diamond tooling.”
