Final Day of FRPM 17 to Focus on Composites

FRPM17 Header Image

For over 30 years, FRPM has been the world's largest, and most scientific forum for exchange of ideas and developments in fire retardancy.

The University of Bolton and University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) are therefore delighted to be hosting the 16th European Meeting on Fire Retardant Polymeric Materials from 3-6 July 2017 in Manchester, United Kingdom.

Fire research at the University of Bolton has a history spanning nearly forty years in areas of textiles, fibre-reinforced composites and bulk polymers with particular emphasis on development of novel flame retardant systems, fire gas analysis, fire retardant mechanisms and associated modelling.

The Centre for Fire and Hazards Science at UCLan has its origins in Fire Safety Engineering, in which it is a leading provider of research and education. Over the last 10 years it has grown in strength to become world leading in fire chemistry and especially fire toxicity.

The conference will focus on the development of new tools for the quantification of fire behaviour, the new research in the field of fire toxicity and materials, and the effects of fire effluents. The final day of the conference will focus on Composites, including flammability and fire resistance of fibre-reinforced composites. This day amalgamates the ‘Composites in Fire’ conference, organized previously every three years from 1996 to 2011 in UK by Professor Geoff Gibson.

The programme for FRPM 2017 will include themes as follows:

  • New Developments in Fire Retardants
  • Investigating Fire Retardant Mechanisms
  • New Developments in Fire Retardant Coatings and Textiles
  • Biobased Fire Retardant Materials
  • Fire Retardants and the Environment
  • Testing, Characterisation and Modelling of Fire Retardant Materials
  • Fibre-Reinforced Composites: Fire Resistant Structures and New Developments
  • Fibre-Reinforced Composites: Reaction to Fire (Heat Release, Smoke and Toxicity) of Composite

The full programme for the conference has now been announced. You can view the full schedule and download the full programme here.

Registration to the event can be completed through the online portal on the FRPM site. The full conference fee is £895, with a discount for registered full time students (including PhD students) and a single day composites fee of £355. The full conference fee includes the attendance to all conference sessions, as well as the social events, which includes a steam railway trip on the East Lancashire route.

For any delegates wishing to bring partners along, there will be a range of daily activities to choose from, while the conference is in session.
There will also be social events on offer for all delegates and partners, including a Conference Dinner on Wednesday 5th July, at the historic Manchester Town Hall, including a welcome drink and three-course meal.

For any further conference information, or how to register your attendance, please visit www.frpm17.com or contact the event organiser Georgina Jones at info@frpm17.com.
