Structural adhesives are the ideal bonding solution for lightweight construction and vehicle manufacture. They serve to reduce weight, lower manufacturing costs and enable a wide range of material combinations. At Composites Europe in Stuttgart, Kisling will be presenting two new structural adhesives that open up new possibilities in vehicle manufacture and lightweight construction.
Innovative adhesives allow combinations of materials that were not possible just a few years ago. The structural adhesives developed by Kisling adhere to a wide variety of materials, are very elastic, have a vibration-damping effect and are characterised by high temperature resistance. Especially in automotive engineering and lightweight construction, this, the company says, makes them the bonding method of choice.
At Composites Europe in Stuttgart, Kisling will be presenting four focus products in addition to proven adhesives. These products are characterised by a very broad adhesion spectrum, and open up new opportunities for bonding plastics, fibre composites, elastomers, metals, glass, ceramics, and in processing.
ergo.® 1665 – fast with high elasticity
The ergo.® 1665 stands out for its excellent adhesion spectrum, as well as for its elasticity during temperature fluctuations. The 2K structural adhesive demonstrates very good adhesion to many materials, bridges gaps of up to 10 mm and has excellent resistance to dynamic loads. Without the need for an activator, the ergo.® 1665 reaches 50% of its final strength at 23°C after only 15 to 18 minutes, which qualifies it for the rapid processing of serial parts.
ergo.® 1675 – odourless with excellent adhesion (innovation)
This two-component methacrylate structural adhesive has an excellent adhesion spectrum which covers various materials and, due to its elasticity, can compensate for tension caused by major fluctuations in temperature. It demonstrates very good adhesion to many materials, bridges gaps of up to 10 mm and has excellent resistance to dynamic loads. The ergo.® 1675 reaches 50% of its final strength at 23° after only 15 to 18 minutes – and achieves this without
the use of an activator. The versatile ergo.® 1675 is almost odourless, as well as fire retardant. A change in colour from blue to green makes the hardening process visible.
ergo.® 7430 – universal
This high-strength 2K epoxy resin structural adhesive is a universally applicable construction adhesive with particular adhesive strength when it comes to metals and bonds glass, ceramics and plastics. The temperature range is –60°C to +100°C, and even +140°C for brief periods. Its working time at 23°C is 40 to 50 minutes.
ergo.® 7440 – impact and temperature resistance (innovation)
The impact-resistant 2K epoxy resin structural adhesive is excellent for the structural bonding of composites and metals. The black-tinted ergo.® 7440 delivers optimum results, especially on composites such as CFRP and GFRP materials, and does so over a wide temperature range. Even at +120°C, it still achieves a high strength of >10 N/mm2. Thanks to its high rigidity and impact resistance, ergo.® 7440 is the ideal and reliable adhesive for heavy-duty structural bonding.
