Presentations on latest material innovations from researchers, engaging talks from Manser Medal winners, and more to be included in the evening reception from 6pm-8pm on Wednesday 25th April.
A Young Researchers Forum will invite architects, specifiers, industry, and academia to become inspired by new and exciting material creations for the architecture and construction industries at Materials for Architecture 2018’s evening reception.
A selection of early-career researchers, new appointees to industry and academia, and PhD Students will pitch their ideas to a panel of expert judges including Manser Medal winners Cezary Bednarski of Studio Bednarski and Chris Loyn of Loyn + Co Architects, plus Elaine Toogood of The Concrete Centre.
A broad range of construction materials, from traditional materials such as concrete and steel, to the many other materials used in 21st century construction are being considered for the forum, spanning both empirical and theoretical research. The winning proposal will be awarded a prize of £500.
Following the research proposals, Manser Medal winners Cezary Bednarski and Chris Loyn will lead concise and engaging talks on the specification and application of materials in their award-winning projects: 1A Merthyr Terrace (2001 winner, Studio Bednarski); Stormy House (2014 winner, Loyn + Co); and Outhouse (2016 winner, Loyn + Co).
The event, which will also include a drinks reception and entertainment, will take place from 6pm-8pm on Wednesday 25th April.
