Netzsch has launched a new in-mould process analytical tool as the next step for intelligent and robust composite manufacturing.
The new tool-mountable sensor controls the quality of carbon fibre parts during high-volume production. The performance of the sensor was tested during the run-time of the BMBF funded and AVK awarded project "OPTO-Light" involving the partners ARGES, AZL of RWTH Aachen University, BMW, Carl Zeiss, KraussMaffei, Precitec and Sensortherm. It was shown that this new sensor creates a huge benefit for the intelligent self-adapting process management. Based on the curing behavior the aim was to compensate deviations in semi-finished products and to reduce cycle times and scrap.
