UK’s Advanced Engineering SMEs and Multinationals to Debate Brexit at Advanced Engineering

Attendees of the 2017 Show

The UK’s advanced engineering SMEs and multinationals will explore what Brexit means for the industry at the country’s largest annual gathering of high value manufacturing professionals. Advanced Engineering 2018 is providing a platform for small and large engineering companies to make their views clear on Brexit, along with other pressing issues.

Representatives from the Departments for Exiting the EU and International Trade will update the audience on the negotiations with the EU and listen to the concerns of engineers from around the UK. Around 15,000 engineers from across the supply chain will attend the two-day exhibition.

According to Engineering UK, engineering contributes 23% (£1.23 trillion) of the UK’s total turnover.

Advanced Engineering 2018 is also hosting a series of thought-provoking talks from industry leading professionals from large companies such as Jaguar Land Rover, Siemens, Boeing and the Aerospace Technology Institute. These will cover a wide range of issues that could be radically affected by Brexit, including: future proofing the supply chain; filling the huge engineering skills gap; and impact on the aerospace and automotive industries.

Alison Willis, Industrial Divisional Director at Easyfairs, organisers of Advanced Engineering 2018, said: “Brexit and Industry 4.0 bring huge challenges and opportunities for engineering businesses of all sizes. At the exhibition this year we are enabling engineers to make their views on Brexit heard as well as exploring the issues involved.

“I urge anyone with an interest in engineering and Brexit to come along and hear at first-hand how engineers are planning for the future. And it’s not just about Brexit – the latest innovations in advanced engineering will be on show from some of the country’s most successful SMEs and larger companies.”

Advanced Engineering 2018 takes place on 31 October and 1 November in halls 2, 3 and 3a at the NEC. To register for your free ticket and for more information about the show visit and follow on Twitter via #AEUK18 for regular updates.
