Originally developed for NASA’s Apollo program, 3M Nextel Ceramic Fibers have evolved into a portfolio of high performance materials which are today used within some of the world’s demanding thermal, mechanical and electrical applications.
3M Nextel Ceramic Fibers are high-temperature materials made from continuous polycrystalline metal oxide fibers with a filament diameter of 8 to 14 μm.
Join 3M’s John Phipps for a 15 minute webinar to discuss the 3M™ Nextel™ Ceramic Fibers: From NASA to Nascar case study in detail. Learn how 3M Nextel Ceramic Fibers help NASCAR teams reduce the heat transfer from engine, exhaust, and track surface into the driver’s compartment. Nascar race drivers routinely face ambient cockpit temperatures of up to 115 ºF (46 ºC) and floorboard temperatures hot enough to boil water.
