Welcome, overview and focus on Automotive
Tim Hinton, Head, Santander Corporate & Commercial Banking will set the scene for Manufacturing Industry Week 2021.
We’ll start with a spotlight on the Automotive sector with insight from Mike Hawes, CEO at SMMT ahead of a more in-depth discussion on supply chain, market entry, access to finance and managing risk in an uncertain world.
We will focus on sector opportunities in Poland, the CEE, the USA and look at Northern Spain / the Basque Country as an alternative route into the EU.
There will also be sessions on how to access trade finance from UKEF and we’ll look at managing risk in an uncertain world. We will wrap up day 1 with a keynote from Lord Bilimoria CBE, President of the CBI and Founder of Cobra Beer.
Day 2 - 21 April 2021 – 09:15 – 13:35
Manufacturing on the world stage, leadership and focus on Aerospace, Advanced Manufacturing and Robotics
In Tuesday’s opening keynote, Stephen Phipson CBE, CEO at Make UK will share his thoughts on UK Manufacturing and its place on the world stage.
Katherine Bennett CBE, SVP Airbus UK and CEO Designate of High Value Manufacturing Catapult will will reflect on the health of UK manufacturing today and discuss the vision for future UK manufacturing
We will then take an in-depth look at aerospace, space and advanced manufacturing sub sectors with speakers from ADS Group Ltd, UKspace, Midlands Aerospace Alliance and Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC). Robotics automation will be covered by KUKA Active8 Robots and Bot-Hive.
Insight into Trade Compliance and Risk Mitigation will be covered by The Institute of Export & International Trade.
Day two will be rounded off by a focus on leadership, Bob Gibbon, MD at The Performance Learning Company will share his thoughts on surviving and thriving through the peaks and troughs of operating in the manufacturing sector.
Day 3 - 22 March 2021 – 09:15 – 13:45
Economic outlook for the sector, focus on Chemicals and Life Sciences and overview of the week
For the final day we welcome Terry Scuoler, CBE, Chairman of the Institute of Export & Int Trade who will host a panel looking at Futureproofing and Building a More Resilient Supply Chain in Asia.
As the spotlight moves to Chemicals, we will hear from Steve Elliott, CEO at the Chemical Industries Association before looking at the opportunities and supply chain for this sub-sector in China, India and the ASEAN region.
The final sub-sector under the microscope will be Life Sciences. Dr Matthew Duchars, CEO of The Vaccines Manufacturing and Innovation Centre will give a keynote covering the manufacture of a vaccine.
In our penultimate session, Frances Haque, Chief Economist at Santander will offer insight into the emerging economic trends and answer your questions in these challenging times.
Finally we will close with a look at latest industry report from the Food & Drink Federation with an overview from CEO Ian Wright.
