Sonichem

Sonichem (formerly Bio-Sep) has developed a unique, low energy biorefinery process to convert the by-products of forestry and agriculture into sustainable platform biochemicals. These biochemicals include lignin, cellulose, and sugars. Lignin is an aromatic polymer and is the only potential bio-sourced replacement for phenol, the petrochemical widely used in resins and composites. Lignin is also hydrophobic and has innate flame retardancy, anti-microbial and UV resistant properties.
