L3 Composite Technician

The Level 3 Composites Technician Apprenticeship trains apprentices on composites part manufacture. The training programme has been designed and developed by industry to provide the apprentice with a broad understanding of all elements of composites manufacture. This will enable cross-industry movement of people in the future.

The entry level is Maths and English at grade 4 and above with 20% as off the job, 80% being delivered by the company.

Maximum funding £27,000. Typical duration 36 months.

Typical learning units include:
Health & Safety Environmental and sustainability regulations
Composite material definitions
Types of reinforcement/matrix materials
Pre processing activities (e.g mould tool preparation)
Composite manufacturing processes
Practical hand lay up techniques
Practical automated lay up techniques
Tooling and product design
Quality assurance procedure
Composites defect identification
