Composite Integration provides market leading, innovative resin mixing and injection equipment for composites manufacturing, specialising in Resin Transfer Moulding and Direct Infusion™ processes in a range of sectors including renewables, aerospace, automotive and marine.
The company started in 2002, manufacturing composite tooling and helping companies to manufacture composite components, from small covers and enclosures up to large-scale structures such as boat hulls and wind turbine blades consuming 1 – 2 tonnes of resin in a single infusion.
From the outset the company focus has been sharing knowledge to support the customer to understand the process, alongside delivering easy to use, reliable tooling and equipment. This has developed further, now providing a wide range of standard equipment and tooling, tailored solutions and carrying out collaborative R&D for a wide range of parts and processes.
An example of a typical RTM and Direct Infusion set up will be shown at this year’s Advanced Engineering Show (Stand X135) where the Composite Integration team will be highlighting aspects of the process alongside the new 2022 Ciject® Two RTM machine.
The key elements of the new Ciject Two include latest Siemens industrial control and HMI, with the Ciject software giving more intuitive operation, improved control and greatly enhanced data acquisition capability. Improved Motorised Ratio Control (MRC) now uses an absolute encoder and inbuilt calibration for improved accuracy. High accuracy flowmeters (up to 180,000 measurements/litre) can accurately monitor ratio in real time to offer security and validation for high value mouldings.
To complement these options, the new and improved software allows comprehensive configuration of recipes and multiple inputs for additional sensors, providing further data for quality assurance and process analysis; this allows the user to have greater control of the entire process.
The Ciject Two is targeted specifically towards manufacturers that require precision control and accountability, and is suitable for RTM, LRTM and Direct Infusion processes. The range is capable of processing Epoxy, Polyester, Vinyl Ester and Phenolic resin systems, with low-cost conversion kits to enable a quick and easy change between material types. The ability to process three component systems such as Arkema Elium® is also available on request.
It’s capability to work with a variety of closed mould processes and to be used to manufacture parts from less than 1 kg shot size, to large structures greater than 1000 kg, places the Ciject two as the most advanced and versatile machine in the market.
The whole Ciject range includes innovative equipment for delivering mixed resin within RTM, LRTM and Direct Infusion processes. The equipment is produced with award-winning design and the highest quality engineering, creating a range widely acknowledged for being the most sophisticated in the market.
A major contribution to the company’s long-term success has been its commitment to a core composites capability and a deep understanding of the process requirements for the manufacture of a wide range of composite components. The company is currently engaged in collaborative research programmes with a total value in excess of £6M, involving the development of tooling techniques, process control and automation, as well as state of the art composite parts.
Recent recognition of this work includes being selected as one of two finalists in the Composites UK: Industry Awards – within the innovation in composites manufacture category. The winners of the Composites UK: Industry Awards will be announced at the awards ceremony which will be taking place on 2nd November at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham.
