Norco is looking for a Project/Manufacturing Engineer to join its growing team in Winfrith. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth translation of designs into efficient manufacturing processes. You will work closely with the production team, leveraging your CAD expertise and methodical approach to create detailed instructions and innovative solutions for composite manufacturing.
Application Stipulation:
This position requires all candidates to be eligible to live and work in the UK and must be capable of achieving a valid UK Government security vetting clearance, candidates must also hold a sole UK British passport (no dual nationalities). Norco will guide and assist with the SC process once employment is agreed and provide ongoing support and training in this field. Hybrid working is not able to be offered for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Project/Manufacturing Engineer, you will:
- Create and implement manufacturing work instructions and visual aids (e.g., lay-up/assembly manuals).
- Analyse customer drawings and CAD data to develop templates, foam kits, and more.
- Devise and implement innovative manufacturing solutions for complex projects.
- Set up and manage Part Numbers, BOMs, and Routings in our MRP system to align with customer requirements.
- Design mould tools, assembly fixtures, and manufacturing aids when needed.
- Provide input into cost estimation for new projects.
- Liaise with customers and suppliers to ensure project success.
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Support and mentor shop floor operatives to build a strong and capable team.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental policies.
- Collaborate with the design team to ensure new and existing products meet manufacturability standards.
Skills& Qualifications:
Essential:
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or engineering role, ideally within composites.
- Strong working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- A methodical approach to problem-solving.
Desirable:
- A degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques.
- Experience with ISO standards and quality assurance processes.
