Simcas Composites Ltd Launches Online Prepreg Sales

Simcas Composites Ltd launches online prepreg sales with a mission to provide fast and customer focussed delivery of UK manufactured composite materials.

Established in 2023, Simcas Composites was founded by Francis Arthur and Simon Haslam, who share a passion to expand the use of composite materials to utilise their unique properties across a range of applications. To achieve this, Simcas is built around being customer focussed for composite businesses of all sizes.

The Simcas Composites online store allows customers rapid and easy access to epoxy component repregs and epoxy tooling prepregs, available for direct online purchase and ready for next day delivery from stock. Prepregs are available with various weights of glass fibre and carbon fibre reinforcements and can be purchased in quantities from as little as 1 sqm.

Operating from their Cambridgeshire based manufacturing facility, Simcas will produce and stock SCT55 tooling prepreg and SCE120 component prepreg. SCT55 is a tooling prepreg system suitable for cure from just 40°C, while offering a maximum use temperature of 180°C following post cure. SCE120 is a toughened epoxy component prepreg with a recommended 1 hour 120°C cure and suitable for a range of applications in motorsport, leisure, marine, and industrial sectors.

Francis Arthur, reflecting on their journey so far, stated, “It has been a really exciting start. Something that was important to us when founding Simcas was to have a customer focus for businesses of all sizes, that’s why we are excited to offer easy ordering, rapid delivery, and no MOQ for smaller projects while also supplying in volume or on a recurring basis for larger projects.”

Simon Haslam shared this enthusiasm saying “I think it is such an exciting time for composites. We have been thrilled with the level of interest and excellent initial customer feedback on the high quality of our materials. We think composites will be a key group of materials in the coming years and I am very optimistic about the future based on progress across the industry.”

Francis has 15 years of experience in composites R&D and the manufacture of composite parts across the aerospace, ballistics, and transport industries. Simon has more than 20 years experience in the manufacture of composite prepregs including as a key member of the Amber Composites team.
