Composites UK has submitted a proposal to the recent Innovate UK call for feasibility studies for advanced manufacturing supply chain innovation on behalf of the UK composites supply chain.
The proposed project will identify the problems that can be solved to accelerate real-world application of composite recycling technologies, deliver a functioning supply chain providing value, resilience, reduced carbon footprint and therefore competitive advantage to the UK composites industry. The project will:
- Collect and disseminate a full set of data to support business planning for all stakeholders in the UK composites recycling supply chain.
- Compile current recycling and re-use business innovations in the UK and overseas.
- Work with industry to scope initial business opportunities, what is required to deliver these economically and describe a Grand Challenge proposal to follow on from this feasibility study to deliver these.
- Work with funding bodies to figure out how this cross-sector challenge could be funded and outline an initial proposal for funding.
- Deliver a webinar at the end of the project to disseminate all the results to the UK composites supply chain.
If the proposal is funded work will begin in July 2026 and last for 9 months.
Further information will be provided if the Association is successful.
