Composites UK Names New Chair of its Early Careers Group

The Composites UK Early Careers Group (ECG) has announced the appointment of Vino Saaran of Multi-Ply as its new Chair, following a successful first year for the initiative under the leadership of Guy Lawrence of Composite Braiding.

Launched in 2025, the Early Careers Group was established to support and connect the next generation of professionals across the UK composites industry. Since its inception, the group has gone from strength to strength, creating opportunities for networking, collaboration and professional development among early-career members throughout the sector.

After serving as the Group’s inaugural Chair, Guy Lawrence will now transition into the role of Vice Chair, continuing to support the ECG as it enters its next phase of growth.

Vino Saaran, the newly appointed Chair, has been an active member of the ECG since its formation and is passionate about strengthening connections across the composites community, promoting knowledge-sharing and supporting the development of future talent within the industry.

Speaking about his appointment, Vino Saaran said: “The Early Careers Group has already demonstrated how important it is for bringing together professionals from across the UK composites industry. I’m excited to take on the role of Chair and help build an even stronger network that encourages collaboration, open knowledge exchange and cross-company engagement.

“As our sector continues to face a skills gap driven by an ageing workforce, it is essential that we invest in the next generation of talent. I’m particularly passionate about improving outreach to schools, colleges and universities, while also highlighting the opportunities available across the wider composites sector, especially within SMEs.

“I look forward to working closely with members and industry partners to ensure the ECG continues to provide a strong voice for early-career professionals and supports the long-term growth and sustainability of the UK composites industry.”

Guy Lawrence reflected on the progress made during the group’s first year: “It has been a privilege to serve as the founding Chair of the Early Careers Group and to see how quickly it has developed since launching last year. The enthusiasm and engagement from members across the industry has been incredibly encouraging.

“I’m proud of what we have achieved together so far, and I’m delighted to support Vino as Vice Chair. His passion for collaboration, outreach and professional development makes him an excellent choice to lead the group into its next chapter.”

The ECG will continue to focus on creating opportunities for professional growth, encouraging collaboration across the industry and supporting initiatives designed to inspire and develop future talent within the UK composites sector.
