New methacrylate adhesive delivers lap shear strength exceeding 20 MPa directly to electroplated and hot dip galvanized steels and other zinc-coated metals, eliminating surface primers and reducing assembly time
Matrix Adhesives Group today announced the launch of SCIGRIP® SG3000, a high-strength, toughened two-component methacrylate adhesive engineered for the structural bonding of galvanized and zinc-coated steels — without the need for surface primers or pretreatment. SG3000 overcomes the traditional bonding challenges of zinc coating. It has been fully validated for structural adhesion on all major types of galvanized steels (hot-dipped and electro galvanized) eliminating the typical risk of adhesive failure.
Featuring a straightforward 1:1 mix ratio, SG3000 delivers tensile strength exceeding 35 MPa, lap shear strength above 20 MPa, and a service temperature range of -40°C to 90°C. Its multi-material capability — bonding galvanized steel to aluminium, stainless steel, FRP/GRP composites, ABS, polycarbonates, coated metals, and vinyls — makes it well suited to the mixed-material assemblies common across transportation, marine, construction, and energy applications.
