Composites UK to Bring UK Composites Industry to Parliament to Explore its Role as an Engine for Growth

Composites UK will host its 2026 Parliamentary Reception at the House of Commons on Wednesday 9 December, bringing together members of the UK composites industry and parliamentarians to discuss the sector’s contribution to the UK economy and its potential to support future growth.

Sponsored by Baggy Shanker MP, the reception will focus on the theme ‘The UK Composites Industry: An Engine for Growth’.

The UK is home to world-leading composites expertise, with companies and organisations working across a diverse range of sectors including aerospace, defence, automotive, energy, construction and marine. This breadth means composites have an important role to play across both advanced manufacturing and the foundation industries that underpin the UK’s Industrial Strategy.

With established technical capability and expertise across the supply chain, the UK composites industry is well placed to contribute to ambitions for economic growth and reindustrialisation.

However, unlocking this potential will require action to address some of the challenges currently facing businesses across the sector. These include the rising cost of doing business, supply chain resilience and recycling, access to funding for SMEs, and the time it can take for new technologies and capabilities to progress through procurement processes.

The Parliamentary Reception will provide an opportunity to bring these issues into Westminster, highlighting both the opportunities available to the UK and the practical challenges that need to be addressed to enable the composites industry to grow.

The event will also explore how government and industry can work together to build a more competitive, resilient and capable UK composites supply chain, strengthening the sector’s contribution to strategically important industries and the wider UK economy.

The reception follows the success of previous Composites UK Parliamentary Receptions, which have provided an opportunity for members to engage with parliamentarians and raise awareness of the breadth and importance of the UK composites industry.

Members are encouraged to invite their local MP to attend the reception and hear directly from businesses operating across the UK composites supply chain.

Companies can also support the event through Composites UK’s Supporting Partner package, which provides visibility at the reception alongside recognition across Composites UK’s communications. The Association thanks Base Materials, Brick Kiln Composites, DFS Composites and Syensqo for already committing their support.

The Composites UK Parliamentary Reception 2026 will take place on Wednesday 9 December 2026, from 1–4pm at the House of Commons. The event is open to Composites UK members and invitees only. The full details can be found here.
