The organisers of the International Composites Summit (ICS), Composites UK and The Fluency Business Group (Fluency) are pleased to announce that the programme for its free-to-attend forum sessions, taking place on the show floor during the exhibition on 21-22 September 2022, London, is now live.
The forums will tie in with the overarching theme for the exhibition, which is to bring companies together to address the worldwide opportunities for sales and growth in the composites sector, needed to help deliver the decarbonisation targets set out in the green agenda for every Nation.
There is however also a massive challenge in circularity, where the product that is created using composite materials has its own end-of-life taken into account, with it, or its elements, going back into a new supply chain instead of landfill. This is everyone’s problem, and collaborative effort is needed to achieve solutions. Several sessions at ICS will explore what is being done and how this knowledge can transfer across sectors. With an international audience, ICS is the perfect platform to come together on this issue.
Malcolm Forsyth, Composites UK’s Sustainability Manager said: “Net-zero is impossible without composites, everyone has a contribution to make and the future of all businesses depends on it. The composites industry must also however ensure that it is addressing the circularity challenge too, to have a truly sustainable future. The composites industry needs a coherent, collaborative effort on this as no-one, individual or corporate, can do it all.
“Engaging in collaborative programmes where your skills and know-how will benefit others, and having the right mind-set where you will share and network for the wider benefit is critical. The forum sessions at ICS are a great place to start or build on this engagement.”
Also covered within the sector-focussed forum sessions will be supply chain opportunities and challenges. These sessions will highlight the direction of travel within these sectors and what that means for your business. This helps steer business planning and preparation for future investment and business changes.
The full session list is as follows:
- The UK Composites Sector
- JEC Session: Market Focus – Current Trends for Composites on a Global Scale
- ACMA Session: Update on the US Supply Chain
- EuCIA Session
- The Race-to-Zero – Reducing Carbon Emissions through Composites
- Supply Chain Opportunities sessions on:
- Aerospace
- Rail Infrastructure
- Automotive
- Green Energy
Returning forum speaker, Engenuity’s Business Development Manager, Tim Hall, said: “I spoke during the forum sessions of ICS in 2021 and it sparked several interesting conversations and projects with new customers. It’s not often you have the opportunity to present your latest developments to such an expert and influential audience. It’s a real honour for Engenuity to be invited to speak again.”
At the end of day one (21st September) Project OASIS will be using ICS as a platform to disseminate outcomes from the project, which aims to fulfil the market potential of nano-enabled multifunctional lightweight products by:
- Gathering an ecosystem of 12 nanotechnology manufacturing pilot lines, providing nanomaterials, nano-intermediates, nano-enabled products and services for development and commercialization of lightweight multifunctional composite products.
- Establishing a complete service offer for associated technical & business development
- Granting direct access to the whole ecosystem through a single-entry point, for easier access especially for SMEs.
Funded by Horizon 2020, the project will come to a close in November 2022, after which OASIS will enter fully commercial operation.
“With its focus on aerospace and automotive industries, ICS is a perfect fit for the services OASIS can offer to companies in these industries and beyond. We hope to find many potential customers at this event who might want to develop innovative new products based on nano-enabled composites using our services and top-notch infrastructures”, says Sonia Flórez, OASIS project coordinator from Tecnalia.
Entrance to the ICS forums is included in delegate registration for the show, which can be made free-of-charge through the exhibition website.
