Since 2021, Diamorph Group has been actively working on revitalising the Permali plant located on Bristol Road. Our goal is to constantly look at ways we can improve the environment by modernising operations and the site itself.
As part of our commitment to innovation, helping the environment and supporting the local community, we are excited to announce that we have invested £1.5 million in a state-of-the-art fume treatment plant known as a Regenerative Thermal Oxidiser (RTO). This plant will aid in mitigating odours from the composite manufacturing process.
This investment holds great importance for both our business and the surrounding environment in which we operate. The RTO will treat many of the Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) generated during the manufacturing of the base materials used for composite components. These VOCs can be odourless however, we are aware that some can be quite pungent.
By heating these VOCs to 800 degrees C, the RTO converts them into harmless water and carbon dioxide. The resulting hot air, water, and CO2 will then be safely exhausted through a 15m high chimney. The emissions from this chimney will be subject to regulatory checks to ensure the equipment is working correctly.
We placed the order for this equipment in August 2022, and after 9 months of manufacturing with a specialised supplier in Italy, we are happy to say that the delivery process began last week. The construction, installation, commissioning, and testing phases will be completed by July. Throughout the remainder of 2023, we will gradually transition our processes to this new plant. While the impact may not be instantaneous, we are confident that it will significantly improve the atmosphere surrounding the factory, benefiting both our employees and our neighbours.
