RECOMP – Reuse and Recycling of Composites – returns for its 3rd edition as a two-day event this November
Being held at the University of Warwick on 27th and 28th November, the event looks at the repurposing & recycling activity growing and accelerating in the UK composites industry and beyond.
All industries urgently need to increase their circularity, reducing their use of virgin resources and increasing their use of recycled resources, as part of the drive towards a net-zero, more sustainable world, and the composites industry is no exception. As a result of this need, there has been a big increase in the effort being made globally to develop and commercialise processes which can enable greater reuse and recycling of composite materials, both production waste and end-of-life waste material, and a real focus on developing new market applications for products with ever greater recycled composite content.
The event organisers -the trade association, Composites UK – is currently looking for speakers for this event on the following topics:
- Examples of commercial products utilising recovered or recycled glass and carbon fibre materials
- Examples of commercial products made by mechanical recycling of composite waste materials
- Examples of development concept products made with or from composite waste materials
- Examples of sector circularity showing how composite waste (production waste or end of life waste) can be collected and recycled into new product forms for use in that sector or other sectors
- The development, scale up or commercialisation of processes enabling the reuse, recovery or recycling of composite waste materials
- The development, scale up or commercialisation of processes enabling the repair and life extension of composite materials
- Examples of organisations who are recovering and recycling their own production waste for use in their own commercial products
- Examples of organisations who are collecting end-of-life composite waste from users for reuse, recovery and recycling of composite materials
Composites UK’s Sustainability Manager, Malcolm Forsyth said: “We are excited for RECOMP to make its return to a two-day format at the University of Warwick this November. It is a must attend event in the UK composites value chain which attracts the key players in this increasingly critical activity of circularity in the composites industry.”
Abstracts can be submitted to Composites UK by emailing events@compositesuk.co.uk by 26th July. Abstracts should be no more than 150 words. A heavily discounted speaker fee will apply to attend the conference if selected.
