British Plastics Federation & Composites UK Relocate TPC 2024 to Birmingham

Back for a ninth year, Composites UK and the British Plastics Federation (BPF) bring you Thermoplastic Composites (TPC) 2024, which will look at ‘Making a Vital Contribution Towards Circularity and Net-Zero Goals’.

All major global economies have now set clear net zero targets which will require major steps to be made in the coming years in the decarbonisation of all major industries and supply chains, and in the establishment of much greater circularity and material recovery/recycling and reuse.

Composite materials are a key enabler of decarbonisation through their lightweight strength, excellent durability and long service lifetimes, and thermoplastic composites will undoubtedly play a leading role in decarbonising selected markets through their unique blend of properties and performance characteristics.

This year the event will move out of London to Birmingham, finding a home at Aston University, Birmingham on 7th November.

Composites UK’s Marketing and Communications Manager, Claire Whysall, said: “We are excited to be working with BPF for the ninth year running on the latest edition in our Thermoplastic Composites event series. Moving the event out of London to Birmingham aims to make it accessible to a wider audience.”

BPF Events Manager, Paul Baxter, added: “We are thrilled to continue our longstanding partnership with Composites UK for the ninth consecutive year to deliver the latest edition of our Thermoplastic Composites event. Relocating the event from London to Birmingham underscores our commitment to broadening access and engaging a more diverse audience. This year’s theme, ‘Making a Vital Contribution Towards Circularity and Net-Zero Goals,’ highlights our focus on sustainable innovation.”

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Sam Donegani, Composite Braiding – High-volume, low-cost, more sustainable composite structures: available now
  • Gerry Boyce, Hive Composites – A unique, low molecular weight thermoplastic oligomer to produce thermoplastic composite structures
  • Siebe Spronk, Synesqo – Mechanically recycling hybrid aerospace TPC part waste into new hybrid parts
  • Kevin Lindsey, Far UK – Innovation towards Net Zero: A folded fibre-reinforced solution
  • Robyn Elliott, AMRC – Weaving and braiding unidirectional thermoplastic tapes to manufacture composite structures
  • Dr Emma Warren, AMRC – An introduction to the machining of thermoplastic composites
  • Neil Reynolds, WMG – Developments in the re-use of post-industrial waste thermoplastic composite for low emissions mobility
  • James Cosby, Longworth – DEECOM: Pressolysis process for upcycling thermosets to thermoplastics

Thermoplastic Composites 2024 is aimed at senior and middle managers from thermoplastic composites companies from all sectors and all parts of the UK.

Registration for this event is now open to all. Discounts are available for BPF and Composites UK members.
