Linking H&S good practice to reduced insurance premiums

Following the launch of the online health and safety management system last November we have been working with member organisation, Towergate Insurance Brokers, to explore how companies that have proven their responsibility by completing the associated Composites UK H&S self-audit tool can benefit by reducing their commercial insurance premium spend. It is assumed that by completing the audit companies demonstrate a competent attitude towards Health and Safety, and therefore either further evidences that a robust Health and Safety Management System is in place or that they have undertaken the audit to provide a start point and GAP analysis of what areas need to be focussed on. The long-term aim is to establish an insurance scheme for the composites sector. To this end, Towergate will be contacting member companies from January 2017 to establish their insurance requirements. At the appropriate time they will offer to take companies through the self-audit process and liaise with insurance brokers to demonstrate responsible practice and secure the best insurance quote available. Towergate can also offer additional services centred around business continuity, H&S consultancy and HR support if required.
