Composites machinery company Cygnet Texkimp returns to Advanced Engineering and Composites Engineering at the NEC Birmingham, 4-5 November, exhibiting on the Composites UK Pavilion, stand W170.
This year, the fibre processing technology specialist will highlight its portfolio of rate-enabling manufacturing solutions for advanced materials and parts destined for the aerospace, space, automotive, and construction sectors.
Sales Director Joe Summers will present latest updates in the company’s multi-award-winning Automated Rapid Tape (ART) technology. Developed from an original concept by McLaren Automotive, the solution is designed to process high-performance, ultra-lightweight composite preforms by laying down high volumes of fibre quickly and accurately. The technology allows the aerospace, space and defence industries to manufacture aerodynamic components sustainably at rate and with minimal scrap.
His presentation will take place on Wednesday 4th November at 13:25 in the Composites Engineering Forum, followed by a Panel Q&A: Can composites deliver at rate?
“Rate is a key driver for an industry focused on making composite materials and parts viable on a bigger scale,” says Joe Summers. “At this year’s Advanced Engineering, we’re highlighting the innovative rate-enhancing technologies we’re developing to achieve high-grade, composites intensive components at higher production rates while maximising the quality and performance of the end product.”
The company will spotlight its compact and energy-efficient Multi-Roll Stack prepreg processing machinery, which is designed to achieve fast set-up and change-over speeds, and offer material manufacturers of all sizes an adaptive, space-saving and cost-effective solution.
Visitors can also find out more about its specialist 3D weaving creels, which are engineered to achieve high levels of production efficiency and support the precision weaving of strong, lightweight and complex structural 3D composite forms for aerospace.
Meanwhile, the company’s high-throughput, fully automated and multi-axis filament winding capability for the manufacture of lightweight parts at rate will be highlighted alongside its high-tension winding machine for the carbon overwrapping of high-speed electric motors.
Finally, Cygnet Texkimp’s engineering team will also be recognised during the show, after two of its young engineers were shortlisted in the Composites UK Industry Awards. Lead Fitter Frazer Scott and Software Engineer Sophie Warburton have both been selected as finalists in the Professor Alan Banks Young Engineer of the Year category of the prestigious awards, which will be presented during Composites UK’s Industry Awards Dinner on Wednesday 4th November at the neighbouring National Motorcycle Museum.
