Dura Composites replaces decking with GRP at Great Haywood Marina as latest project in partnership with Lakeland Leisure

This latest completion marks over 10,000 sqm of Dura Composites Mini Mesh Grating successfully designed, supplied and installed in its longstanding collaboration with Lakeland Leisure Estates.

Great Haywood Marina is owned and managed by Lakeland Leisure and was in need of an upgrade in autumn 2022. Degrading to the timber deck had occurred, and they were in need of a much longer lasting replacement. Having previously worked together on many projects, the client knew that Dura Composites’ GRP Mini Mesh was the perfect solution offering non-corrosion, non-conductive and anti-slip properties that far superseded the previous failing timber.

Particularly appealing for Great Haywood was the non-conductive element of Dura Composites’ GRP grating, as each of their moorings comes with a 16-amp electricity supply, so their moorers can feel even safer knowing their jetty covering can not pass electricity through it.

Improving safety has always been at the forefront of everything that Lakeland Leisure do, which is why in choosing Dura Composites’ grating, they once again got a product that was fire-rated and low-maintenance, to ensure the safety and longevity of their marina.

Working once again with partners, Shoredeck, Dura Composites was able to offer the full turnkey solution of design, supply and install, saving valuable time and money for this project.

Commenting on the project, Dean Fuller, Marine Manager at Dura, said: “With its 60-year design life, our Mini Mesh Grating has futureproofed this marina, so it can be enjoyed by all, for generations to come. Lakeland Leisure, who are pioneers in the industry, were once again grateful for the support and guidance. We look forward to working closely with them again in the future on other marinas that also need our non-corrosive, anti-slip GRP.”

Great Haywood Marina is one of a number of projects Dura Composites has completed so far this year with Lakeland Leisure, with recent installations at Barton, Saul Junction and Tattenhall Marinas.
