Hive Composites Doubles Floorspace To Meet Demand For Specialist Engineering

  • Leicestershire company expands into neighbouring building
  • Additional space doubles capacity to deliver composite services
  • 2 new jobs also created in move

Hive Composites has doubled its capacity for market-leading advanced composites services after taking over the building next door to its existing premises.

The move will see the Wymeswold business near Loughborough, Leicestershire, increase its floorspace to around 7,000 sq ft to meet growing demand.

Expansion supports Hive’s recent growth as an advanced composites engineering services business. The company provides well-known customers around the world with practical support across design, prototyping, commercialisation and certification support.
Additional space will be made available for equipment, project activity and team growth. It comes as Hive deepens its volume of projects, which range from early-stage development through to product commercialisation.

Hive has also expanded its team. The company is delighted to have recently taken on two new employees. Mohammed Heidari-Rarani joined the team in July as Senior Project Engineer and Mark Lidgett started in September as Engineering Manager, bringing a wealth of composites project engineering and management experience.

Hive is part of Composites Innovation Group (CI Group), which brings together several companies to offer complementary expertise across the full composites design, prototyping and certification pathway.

Hive specialises in partnering with global brands in energy, infrastructure, aerospace & defence and automotive. The extended facility is a significant step forward in developing the group’s practical capacity while retaining the distinct roles of its businesses.
Nigel Finney, Managing Director of Hive Composites, said: “The second building gives us the space and flexibility to support the next stage of Hive’s growth. We have effectively doubled our floor space, which in turn enables us to increase the output we deliver for customers.

“Our focus remains on practical composites engineering – helping organisations navigate the challenges of developing, proving and commercialising new products and technologies. This expansion gives our team a stronger platform to do that work – particularly as demand grows across energy, infrastructure and other technically demanding sectors.”

Hive’s expansion comes as CI Group recently launched Quantis Testing Services. Quantis is a specialist bespoke-testing business established to deliver tailored test programmes for complex engineering challenges.

It specialises in projects where standard test methods, equipment or high-volume testing models may be insufficient.
