His Majesty’s Government is pleased to announce the next round of the Secure Innovation Security Review Scheme following a successful first year part-funding over 200 early-stage technology organisations’ access to security advice and expertise on strengthening their resilience and protecting their innovation.
With UK innovation increasingly targeted by state actors, competitors and criminals seeking access to valuable technologies, ideas and sensitive information, taking action to protect innovation has never been more important.
Delivered as part of the Secure Innovation campaign, developed by the National Protective Security Authority (NPSA) and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), and in partnership with the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST) and Innovate UK the scheme is designed to help businesses identify and mitigate risks to their intellectual property, competitive advantage and long-term growth.
Participating organisations contribute just £500 towards a review valued at £3,000, with HMG funding the remaining £2,500, allowing access to security expertise that many might otherwise struggle to obtain. Upon completion of the review, participants will also receive a £300 Cyber Essentials voucher, supporting them in achieving the government’s recommended baseline standard of cyber security and in building confidence with customers, partners and investors.
The scheme provides direct access to a Security Reviewer who, through an in-person review, delivers a bespoke report with recommendations designed to help them better understand their risks and build a stronger security posture. Participating businesses have already highlighted the value they’ve felt, including gaining access to security knowledge that was previously unavailable to them, and a clear pathway towards strengthening security and supporting future growth.
The scheme is not simply about implementing stronger security measures. It is to help businesses embed security as a strategic enabler to support innovation, enhance credibility, and build confidence among customers, investors and partners.
